9/11/2008: Transnational Pixel Logistics | (Published by Keith Tuomi) | As those on the web design side of things know, "page load time", being the moment from when a web user clicks a link to your page, to the moment the content is more or less loaded to the satisfaction of the user, is extremely important.
Images downloaded from webpages typically make up a huge chunk of the average pageload, especially so on a media-heavy site such as Zymmetrical. To improve load speeds for our visitors from around the world, we have started optionally serving all thumbnail and comp images from continental Europe, in addition to our US datacenters. The way we determine where to show you the images from, depends on which Zymmetrical portal you use.
So.. the long and the skinny of it:
If you are in the North, Central or South America:
.. then set your bookmark to either www.zymmetrical.com or www.zymmetrical.ca
__ OR __
If you are in the Europe, Africa or Asia :
.. then set your bookmark to (your choice of) www.zymmetrical.co.uk or www.zymmetrical.es or www.zymmetrical.de or www.zymmetrical.fr or www.zymmetrical.it or www.zymmetrical.nl or www.zymmetrical.pl .
You can still use the language choice specified in your account on these URL's. Using the Zymmetrical domain mirror that is closest to you physically like this should give you a dramatic improvement in browsing our image results - no more hopping across the Atlantic needlessly to retrieve some pixels that are hanging out in your local neighborhood already!
