What do you think about flash banners? I had a few but took them down... it seem to work fine on a my home computer but when I looked at it on other O.S. it was gone or all messed up.

I do not like them at all. I can cause many problems for people trying to look at sites due to taking to long to load or simply not being able to tell what the banner is at all.

Flash banners usually causes frustration when it is not working well. I used flash banners a year ago. Now I am sick of using flash banners.

I spent ages learning how to create flash animation for banners - and when I finally created one I liked, I ended up taking it off my site because it took too long to load. There was no point having it there if visitors click away before they can see it.

Flash of any kind can kill your load time, cost you customers, and kill your sales, in the long run.
It is usually better to stick with simple design tools to get your point across.

Flash banners has more of disadvantages than advantages. It is annoying since it takes time to load. There's no time enough time for your time-conscious customers to wait for the page to load.

I've seen it done quite often on some popular blogs etc. where they execute the HTML on the page in order that the Flash code loads first - so the visitor is forced to consume the ad/banner while the rest of the page loads. If you have engaging enough content, this technique could work in the long term without causing lost visitors.
